This study dealt with the ratio between the uninuclear and binuclear strains regenerated from the protoplasts of 11 strains of edible fungi, the yield superiority and their fruiting characters. The results showed that the regenerated strains from the protoplasts of the strains of Pleurotus and Lentinula edodes could be distinguished into the uninuclear strains without "clamp connection" and the binuclear strains with "clamp connection", but the ratio between the above strains was different, that, generated from the same parent strain, the uninuclear strain was markedly different from the binuclear strain in the growth rate of mycelia, fruiting period and yield etc, the binuclear strain was mostly superior to the uninuclear strain, but whether the binuclear strain was superior to the parental binuclear strain depended on the parent strain, and that the asexual uninuclear strain was ideal material for practicing cell fusion or routine breeding, but the protoplasmatic binuclear strain could be used for breeding high-quality and high-yield strains.

The correlation between the colonial morphology and characters of productivity and quality of Agaricus bisporus during the entire growth period was studied and their genetic variation was investigated using single strain and different colonial morphological monosporous isolates derived from the same fruitbody of Agaricus bisporus as testing material in this paper. The results indicated that there was diversity with different degrees among monosporous isolates of various colonial morphology and between the monosporous isolates and the parental strains, and that characters of productivity and quality of the fruitbody were correlated with colonial morphology. So, this result will provide a theoretical basis for genetic improvement and production of Agaricus bisporus strains.

80 strains of Lentinula edodes were used to investigate systematically 88 coded features including agronomical, ecological and physiological-biochemical characters and to establish an uniform and standard method of determination and analysis for every coded feature in this study. The data for every strain and every coded feature were put into computer after normal analysis. And the germplasm bank of L. edodes was established on the basis of synthetical evaluation of the genetic characteristics of L. edodes with variance analysis and cluster analysis.

The stacked density of log-cultivated Ganoderma lucidum spores is 0.22-0.25g/cm9 with 0.97-1.15×1010 spores per gram, and its moisture content is about 8.39%-8.92%. The analytic results showed that the content of crude protein, crude fat, total carbohydrate, soluble polysaccharide, crude fiber and ash was 14.26% - 17.80%, 3.57%-4.35%, 8.37%-9.32%, 1.43%-1.90%, 2.36%-3.52% and 3.44%-4.01% resp., that the content of heavy metal Pb, Cd and Hg was coincided with the hygienic standard, and that the content of chitin, main component of spore-wall, was about 52.08% - 57.88%. while the component of chitin obtained from G. lucidum spores and crab-shell was analysed and compared by infra-red spectrum in this study

Using liquid fermented Flammulina velutipes mycelia as research material, polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis method and chemicel inhibition treatments were used to study SOD producing method and its isoenzyme type in this paper. The results showed that SOD, as intracellular enzyme, only existed in mycelia during liquid culture period, and that its activity might be inhibited by chloroform-ethanol and SDS, but not KCN and H2O2. So it was considered that the main kind of SOD that existed in Flammulina velutipes mycelia was Mn-SOD.

It was identified that the best carbon source, nitrogen source, the most optimum C/N, pH and temperature during the vegetative growth period of 4 Hericium erinaceus strains were starch, wheat bran or peptone, 20:1, 4.0-5.0 and 25-29℃ reap..

The effect of primary pH, different carbon sources, different nitrogen sources on mycelial growth and the pH changing law of liquid medium during the culture of Flammulina velutipes in 500ml shake flask were studied in this paper. The main nutrients and amino acid content in mycelia and fruitbodies were also analysed. The results showed that after submerged culture for seven days, the mycelial yield was the highest while the pH of the liquid medium decreased with the extending of culture time and fell to the lowest at the seventh day. The optimum pH of the medium was 5.5-7.4. The optimum carbon sources and nitrogen sources for F. velutipes were glucose, sucrose, cellulose, peptone and yeast extract resp.. The nutrient compositions of mycelia and fruitbodies were almost the same, but the content of protein and total amino acids in mycelia was higher than that in fruitbodies.

The correlation between the yield of Agaricus biazei Murvill firuitbody and the spawn medium, the cultivation medium, the thickness of cultivation medium, the spawn rate, the spawning method, the cultivation system, the different treating method of cultivation medium and the different C/N of the cultivation medium was reported in this paper. The results showed that: the optimum spawn-medium was straw-medium, the optimum cultivation medium was improved straw-mushroom medium, the optimum thickness of the cultivation medium was 13.5kg/m2, the optimum spawning method was surface-spawning, the yield of the tray-system was the highest, but the best cultivation system for large scale cultivation was bed-system, the yield increment rate of the treatment added with 864 solution compared with the check was 54.38 96, and the optimum C/N of the cultivation medium was 29:1.

New strains of Lentinula edodes Cr-20 and Cr-62 were bred by direct crossing of monospore mycelium of the parent strain 7917 and the local strain L-21 through primary and secondary screening and production test without predetermination of the polarity. Comparing with the first group hybrid strain Cr-02, Cr-20 and Cr-62, with bigger fruitbody and thick pileus, were extended extensively. And great social benefits have already been achieved.

The genetic transformation of basidiomycetes was carried out with PEG and electroporation and microprejection. The establishment of transformation system and the general features of transformation beginning from the first example of genetic transformation in basidiomycetes were reported in this study. And some successful examples published as late as Sep. 1996 were also enumerated in this paper, showing the importance of gene transformation in the breeding of basidiomycetes.
